As a recipient of an Opus 1 Instrument Scholarship, students will receive a professional quality instrument or bow, as well as a full tuition scholarship to Opus 1’s chamber music program.

Application Process

At Opus 1, we understand how important a high quality instrument is to an aspiring student musician. We also understand the very real financial barrier that keeps many students from having the opportunity to access these instruments. Thanks to the incredible generosity of bow maker, Alex Moro, and violin maker (luthier), Keith Hill, Opus 1 is able to offer select students professional quality instruments as well as a full-year tuition scholarship to Opus 1’s chamber program to help them further their musical studies.

In order to qualify to receive an instrument scholarship, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be an aspiring violinist, violist, or cellist interested in developing their skills to the highest level

  2. Participate in Opus 1’s year-long chamber music program.

  3. Demonstrate financial need through a personal statement and supporting documents written by a parent/guardian and private teacher.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Students who apply during the academic year will be considered for the following trimester. If a student is also new to Opus 1’s chamber music program, they must also submit a chamber music application.

Scholarships are eligible for renewal, considering that students continue to meet the scholarship requirements and take proper care of the loaned instruments.
